The Golden Oar is officially back.

After an unforgettable debut on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra’s world class regatta festival will return from 30 October to 1 November 2026, once again transforming Black Mountain Peninsula into the centre of rowing in Australia.

Bigger, bolder and set across three action packed days, the 2026 event will build on the extraordinary success of the inaugural Golden Oar and take the experience to the next level, both on and off the water.

A winning debut

In its first year, The Golden Oar brought elite international and Australian crews to Canberra to compete for glory and significant prize money in front of passionate local crowds. Thousands turned out to witness high performance racing in a spectacular setting, with festival vibes, food and entertainment creating an atmosphere rarely seen at a rowing event in Australia.

The response from athletes, partners and spectators was overwhelming. The message was clear. Canberra had embraced its new regatta festival.

Canberra Airport returns as naming rights partner

We are proud to announce that Canberra Airport will once again serve as Naming Rights Partner for the 2026 event.

As a key gateway to the capital and a long standing supporter of major events in the region, Canberra Airport played a pivotal role in launching The Golden Oar in its inaugural year. Their continued partnership reflects a shared ambition to grow the event into a premier fixture on the national and international rowing calendar.

With Canberra Airport on board once again, the runway is clear for an even bigger return.

What’s next

Planning for 2026 is already well underway.

Fans can expect the return of elite racing, a vibrant festival atmosphere and new elements designed to elevate the experience for competitors and spectators alike. Further announcements, including program highlights, athlete news and community activations, will be revealed in the coming months.

For now, mark your calendars.
